When the Previous 97’s noticed “20th Century Boy” on our 25-song record, the band relished the possibility to cowl a T. Rex monitor. Previous 97’s lead singer Rhett Miller is a large fan of T. Rex, and whereas it’s not his favourite music from their catalog, actually any outdated Marc Bolan music would’ve made him completely satisfied. Thus, the Previous 97’s paid homage to the monitor, preserving the music’s signature bass guitar rift intact and including a bit of of their very own aptitude to a first-rate cowl.
The Previous 97’s newest report, Graveyard Whistling, is out now on ATO Data. Our interview with lead singer Rhett Miller is beneath.
