Earlier this morning, presenters Alfre Woodard, Garret Hedlund, Kristen Bell, and Sharon Stone—paragons of professionalism all—have been available to announce the nominees for the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards on the ungodly hour of 5:30 a.m. PT whereas the hills round them burned.

Guillermo Del Toro’s love letter to monster films (and cinema normally) The Form Of Water matched final yr’s equally starry-eyed La La Land with seven nominations, main a slate that doesn’t considerably deviate from the awards which have already been given out by critics in New York and L.A. itself. Talking of which, Nationwide Board Of Evaluate favourite The Put up picked up six nominations alongside Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards Exterior Ebbing, Missouri, adopted intently by Woman Chicken with 4—though Greta Gerwig was shut out of the all-male Finest Director class.

Universal’s strategy of nominating Get Out as a comedy, controversial as it may have been, achieved its intended effect with two nominations, although director Jordan Peele himself wasn’t recognized. Ridley Scott was, though, for his quick-change act replacing Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer in his Getty kidnapping pic All The Money In The World; Plummer himself also scored a nomination—one of three for the film in total—whether due to his brilliant performance or simply voters’ respect for his nimbleness.

In TV, sadly, Laura Dern is not up against herself for her performances in Twin Peaks: The Return and Big Little Lies this year, although Kyle Maclachlan did score a welcome Best Actor in a Limited Series nomination for the former. Not that Big Little Lies is hurting for recognition, though, leading the TV pack with six nominations (including one for Dern, don’t worry) in a year that put HBO back on top with 12 nominations to Netflix’s nine and Hulu’s three. Broadcast networks continue to lag behind, though, as FX beat its closest network competitor, NBC, with eight nominations to NBC’s five. You can see a full list of Golden Globes nominees below, and catch the ceremony on January 7, hosted by Seth Meyers.
