Because the years go on and the injuries left by the coarseness of sand start to heal, increasingly individuals are wanting again on the Star Wars prequels with growing fondness. Whether or not they’ve satisfied themselves that Jar Jar was really good or simply that the lightsaber fights have been fairly entertaining, everybody with any appreciation for prequels can agree on one factor: Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi was nice. He introduced a little bit of winking playfulness to the overwhelming melodrama of the collection, suggesting that residing within the Star Wars universe would really be fairly cool in the event you’re not a whiny Jedi-in-training.

It’s no marvel, then, that McGregor’s Obi-Wan is likely one of the few issues that Star Wars followers hope Disney will resurrect from the prequels for considered one of its many spin-off films. Eventually night time’s Golden Globes, McGregor—who received a trophy for his work on Fargo—as soon as once more famous that he’d “be joyful” to play Obi-Wan Kenobi once more, including that there was “quite a lot of speak” about that taking place. Sadly, he says he doesn’t know any extra about an Obi-Wan film than anybody else does, implying that the “speak” he’s heard is simply from random Star Wars followers and never, say, Kathleen Kennedy herself.

In August, we reported that Stephen Daldry (of The Hours and Extraordinarily Loud And Extremely Shut) was supposedly speaking to Disney and Lucasfilm about growing a standalone Obi-Wan film, however nothing official has come out of that simply but—together with whether or not or not this hypothetical film would star McGregor. He did already make a one-line vocal cameo in The Pressure Awakens throughout Rey’s imaginative and prescient, although, so we do know that Disney at the least has his telephone quantity.
