As reported by Deadline, Selma and A Wrinkle In Time director Ava DuVernay has teamed up with Charles D. King and Victoria Mahoney to develop a TV adaptation of Daybreak, the 1987 sci-fi novel by Octavia E. Butler. DuVernay and King will government produce the sequence, with Mahoney writing the script. As Deadline notes, this would be the first time one among Butler’s works has been tailored for TV.
Daybreak is the primary e-book in what’s known as the Lilith’s Brood trilogy, and it’s a couple of black lady who will get taken on board an alien ship a couple of hundred years after mankind has successfully destroyed the planet with nuclear warfare.
